We can customize or build just about any furnishing from scratch, whether it’s part of a complete residential remodel or just as a standalone piece.
The collaborative design experience begins with a conversation about how you want your space to feel and work for you, grounded within realistic budgets and timelines. During this “discovery” phase, we explore how you use your space, down to small details such as whether you are right-handed or left-handed. These details are central to successful space planning because before a space can be pretty, it needs to be functional.
Next, visiting showrooms and sourcing images from websites helps us develop a design concept. Bringing that design to life is a matter of technical execution on our part, while you get to relax and enjoy the transformation.
Owner and lead designer, Sophia Galata has helped a variety of clients in and around the Bay Area with residential and commercial remodels. Her superpowers include space planning and creating one-of-a-kind solutions. She has designed kitchens, bathrooms, a backyard lounge, a cafe and a bakery. She is supported by a team of more than 20 licensed contractors and specialists that help bring each design to life.
“I don’t have a single style. It’s about the clients. The spaces we design need to reflect who lives there, and everything starts with listening and asking the right questions.”
In addition to remodels, Sophia creates custom pieces, especially hard-surface items requiring carpentry and millwork such as cabinets, tables, shelves and furniture.
“Sometimes, what’s needed to complete a clients space can’t be found in a store. It has to be custom, so that is what we do. We design it, build it and install it. Every client has been so proud to say that a piece was created special, just for their home ”
Sophia’s lifelong love of creating was born out of a family of artists and crafters, including carpentry from her father and fabrics from her grandmother. “There was always creativity happening around me – from my dad woodworking in the garage to my mom creating dried flower bouquets to my grandmother sewing beautiful clothing and blankets or my uncle airbrushing images on a motorcycles.” Both of Sophia’s parents owned their own businesses and she knew she wanted to follow in their footsteps. After earning her degree in 2014, she opened her interior design business, Xpressive Interiors.
